By combining them with load-bearing glass balustrades or glass walls, modern folded-plate staircases can be constructed that have a very slender structure and therefore do not appear too ostentatious or intrusive, even in small rooms or narrow passageways. The design is finished off with a cover on the outside of the glass to conceal the fixings.
