The classic spiral staircase can be produced with a variety of tread materials, including glass, which lends the structure a particular lightness and transparency. The treads either follow the circular sweep of the staircase or are individually adapted to architectural conditions such as the line of surrounding walls.
In addition to traditional designs with a central column in timber or stainless steel, Siller develops innovative, pared-back concepts that reinterpret the structure through a pure formal language.
An outstanding example is the SKY-SCREW spiral staircase, which entirely eliminates visible steel elements. Depending on the version, the structure is made in glass, concrete or timber and designed to evoke a rising rotor within the space — a dynamic sculpture formed from movement and architecture.
